Frequently Asked Questions
When do you audition?
Auditions are usually in
- January/February for our Octyomer Musical, and
- July/August for our January Pantomime
Keep an eye on our website and/or social media for information
Where do you audition?
Our auditions are usually at Riddlesden War Memorial Institute, or at Victoria Hall, but please check each individual audition.
Is it for society members only?
Absolutely not! Our auditions are open to anyone.
There is a small fee of £3 which helps fund the venue. This fee is waived if you are already a member.
Can I register for more than one part?
Yes! We may ask you to just audition for one part, however it is always helpful if you are happy to be considered for other parts and/or the chorus.
When do you rehearse?
We start rehearsing in May for our October Musical (No rehearsals in August)
…and start November for our January Pantomime
Rehearsals are usually Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, adding Sunday afternoons in the final month of rehearsals
Do I attend every rehearsal?
That depends on the show and your part. However please let us know when registering if you think you will not be able to attend the Tuesday/Wednesday/Sunday auditions. This could be important, and it is not fair on the rest of the cast if there are people missing from rehearsals.
Due to problems in the past, we now take missing rehearsals very seriously, and we may find it necessary to re-cast your part for repeated disruption.
Will appearing in a show cost me anything?
Yes, we require that all cast become members of the society, and also pay the relevant performance fee. See our membership page for details. These fees help towards insurance and rehearsal costs.
You may also wish to purchase show specific t-shirts or hoodies, which are sold at cost price.
